When I was teaching in an Autistic Support Classroom, one of my students used a Portable word processing device. The device was a Neo, but they are no longer producing them anymore. The device helped this student take notes. He was included for most of his 4th grade and those classes required him to take notes and write for assignments. He would get frustrated when taking notes with a paper/pencil because he could not spell or refer to his notes later because he couldn't read his own handwriting. After getting the portable word processor, he was able to keep up on assignments and note taking and it limited his frustration. He would love taking out the device, and actually enjoyed the writing process.
